I recall in 1964 serving with Jeff at 41 Commando, Royal Marines, Bickleigh. The Unit was tasked to quell a rebel uprising in Tanganika. Jeff and I were part of the rearparty and assigned to the guardroom at the then enpty Plumer Baracks at Crownhill for security duties.

One day Jeff came in the gate on a lovely new Triumph Boniville, to the envy of us all. Needless to say we all wanted a go on it. The vast parade ground was our playground that day and this is a small memory that stays with me. We both left the service not long after. Pauleen Eastell and Mary Rowe, then worked at Clarks Shoe factory as friends. Jeff married Pauleen and I married Mary. I will still remember!!
